Hi there, I was just about to write a post requesting help or even a support ticket about the scrolling ticker module k2newsscroller not working with .htaccess enabled. The scroller would only display the item titles, but it wouldn't scroll through them (like a stock ticker) if i enabled the .htaccess file. I figured I might as well go ahead and upgrade 1st and that seemed to have fixed it!

I am unable to use the Akeeba auto updater on my site due to some weird redirection symlinks in the FTP home directory (although I can use the non FTP standard Joomla! installer for components) so I have to do all the upgrades manually.

It seems ok, but I will continue to monitor it.

Also, have you considered a sticky thread with RewriteRules for popular components (K2, JomSocial, etc)?

Yes, that issue was a huge bug in the front-end protection rules in the .htaccess file generated by (the very rashly released) 2.0.4. As you noted, 2.0.5 fixes this issue.

I am considering something like a wiki for common rewrite rules. I'm still exploring some options and will notify everyone when this is ready for prime time :)
