I want to upgrade my Nexus 5 with the extra bit of income tax this year. I don't really want another Samsung. I'm thinking Moto X or G Flex 2 but I'm on T-Mobile and T-Mobile hasn't announced the G Flex 2 availability. Any recommendations? TIA

I would wait a bit longer until more flagships come out with 64bit cpu's/better cameras/more ram. Actually, I would wait until next fall when the next Nexus and Moto G come out.

that's what i'm actually doing. i was going to get the Nexus 6 but it was so difficult to order i just nixed it and at this point will just keep my Nexus 5 for another 9 months or so until the next Nexus comes out. might as well wait as this point - i have Lollipop and my carrier of choice - AT&T GoPhone in place. i also think that a 2 year cycle is a good upgrade strategy to stay current but not pissss away money unnecessarily.

I would wait but "extra" money burns a hole in my pocket. And I have a problem with buying gadgets when I can. So I figured "buy a new phone, you use it everyday" but I might wait to see how my wife's Moto X is. I'm ordering her one on Monday with the $140 coupon code I received yesterday.

I'm in the same boat and waiting to move on from my Nexus 5. I'm waiting to see what MWC brings. I'm hoping some of the phones that get announced will be available soon after they are announced. The HTC M9 is the one I'm currently most interested in, but that is all just based rumors. I've been waiting for the Z4 announcement, but with word that it won't be released until much later I've slightly given up hope on that.

I can't keep my Nexus 5 much longer. Since the update to lollipop, my battery life has gone to crap and the lag of simple tasks, such as just getting back to my home screen, are annoying me too much.

Blah.. Rumors, rumors, rumors. All because they laid off 1,000 people. How many did Samsung recently can? Microsoft recently laid off 20,000..

i want a manufacturer that's going to be in it for the long haul so i'm not left holding my **** in my hands. Sony took their eye off the ball and dropped the ball long ago.

The moto x's specs are almost identical to the nexus 5. It would be a lateral move at best. The only advantage the moto x has is always listening feature and slightly bigger screen.

I put the Candy5 custom rom on my nexus 5. It has never run better. It's so smooth and fast, it boggles my mind. I would put it up against any phone. No one is forcing you to stay with stock android.

hard reset back to factory state and then manual restore reinstall. i do this after every major OS "Letter" upgrade.

I too will be looking to move on from a Nexus 5 in April, so I am looking to see what is released by then.

Currently, I do like the look of either the Nexus 6 or Note 4 but they will both be 6 months or so old when I can upgrade. I have a bit of OCD to get the latest device if possible and I am not sure I can wait until the Autumn for the new versions of those devices. I do like the idea of a bigger screen but not sure of the practicality of them.

My Nexus 5 seems to be ok except for possibly faster than normal battery drain when using the phone for games/youtube etc (drain while idle seems good), and I do have an issue that the home screen tends to 're-draw' its self quit often when pressing the home button.

Has anyone figured away around the Google Play movies issues once you go down that path? I have done the ROM thing before, but didn't like losing the ability to download/rent/buy movies from Google Play due to me having a rooted device.

I am going to wait until the fall as well. I agree on the 2 year replacement plan and don't really see anything that blows my socks off at the moment. I would prefer to stay pure Android and the Nexus 6 is just too big for my tastes. I also don't like the price jump on the Nexus 6. The original Nexus program was to get a pure, Android quality device in the hands of as many people as possible at a reasonable price. At $649.00 - $699.00 I would look at other manufacturers.

I agree entirely. It tool so long for the Nexus 6 to become available that it's no longer interesting. I'm waiting for the 2015 Nexus. Two years between phones is the right amount of time.
