Vacuum line from wiper motor to passenger side AC door
I've noticed that my air flow out of the dash kicks up higher when I turn on my wipers.
Well I'm cleaning up my wiper bay and saw a vacuum line from the wiper motor area to the passenger side vent door.
Can anyone educate me on this?

It looks like it runs into the wiper assembly?

Hi,
Could the line you're seeing be one of the 2 green hoses seen at the top of this diagram that supply vacuum to the 2 door actuators?
One of them could be mis-run and that's why it appears it runs to the wiper motor.
Note one of them runs on the compartment side of the firewall for a distance, while the other one stays on the interior side. That might help you figure out which one you're seeing.
I'd think the operation of these 2 doors would affect the amount of air flow you're sensing from the dash outlet.
Maybe?
Regards,
Alan

Hi,
Here's the connection that Mark describes.
The small line is the vacuum supply to the heater/defroster/ac controller in the shifter console.
Regards,
Alan
It's usually a little further under the hood latch; I pulled it for the picture.

MrJlr,
You need to better describe where this vacuum line is going. The passenger side vent door down in the cowl is controlled by the AC/HEATER controls.....if that is not what you mean...then let us know....because there is a vacuum switch by the right wiper arm for the wiper system...but that has nothing to to with air flow or function...unless someone has gotten into your car in the past and messed stuff up...which is HIGHLY possible.
A photo of what you are talking about...a good photo...would be a great help.

The cowl air flap is controlled by the hose with the dark green strip which go's through firewall into the wiper box just to the pass. side of the wiper motor cut off switch (the one with 2 red w/white strip wires). Check and see if the door hinge is pinching that hose when the door is closed. Will have to remove wiper grill to see what is happening. Maybe Alan has a picture of that hose.

I must respectfully disagree with this.
The wipers have nothing to do with this vacuum line with the dark green stripe.
There is no way the vacuum line (dark green stripe)that is for the cowl air flap for the AC system is controlled is going anywhere but through the grommet on the firewall behind the passenger valve cover area and going to the AC-HEATER controls. This vacuum hose (dark green stripe) has nothing to do with the wipers in any way, shape of form. The only thing that the vacuum for the wipers and the AC system have in common is that get their vacuum from the engine...and that is it.
The hose that controls the cowl air door is a two part hose system. So this hose does not need to go to the backside to supply vacuum to the actuator pod because there is a special vacuum fitting in the door assembly that allows this vacuum hose with the dark green stripe to attach to it and get clipped in place so it will not fall off with an internal toothed tension washer.
