Carlos Rivera: Professional Photographer and Artist
Born in Mexico City, I am a professional photographer with over 14 years of experience. With a background in Architecture and Marketing, I have always been fascinated with photography and the creative medium. Today, I use my passion for photography to create captivating images. Mainly my career has bee in the commercial side of photography specializing in architecture and interior, with over 1,300 locations photographed in 6 different countries. In recent years, I've shifted my focus towards the artistic facet of my career. A notable milestone was my participation in the 2022 exhibition "Camino a Babel" in Mexico City, where I showcased my work alongside 10 painters, exploring the theme of Babel. Now based in Chicago, I am dedicated to furthering my artistic pursuits. Street photography encapsulates the essence of pure photography, steering clear of elaborate setups with large strobes, light modifiers, models, and artificial environments. It's about capturing the raw, unfiltered tapestry of daily life in a timeless image. My affection for street photography has become the cornerstone of my unique style, employing contrast to narrate stories through the interplay of light, shadows, and sometimes colors. A significant portion of my work is presented in black and white, a deliberate choice to eliminate unnecessary distractions and focus on the essence of the narrative. The future holds uncertainties, but one thing remains certain—I will persistently chase my dreams, sharing my perspective and art with the world.
