At roughly the size of a desktop printer, the Thermaprint 64 is a compact, industrial-grade thermal transfer printer capable of printing on hundreds or even thousands of products per hour: eliminating the long lead-times often associated with direct to package print jobs.
The thermal transfer technology makes the prints themselves rather impressive as well. The ink is kept on a ribbon, making it impossible to spill and easy to store and care for. The print head heats the ribbon until the ink separates from its polymer backing and fuses to the product. It is this which makes the TP64 able to print on fibrous materials like tyvek. The ink itself is a mixture of wax and resin, wax for adhesion, resin for solidity, making the print near-impossible to remove once cured.
