The Five Funniest Commercials From Super Bowl XLIX

Yeah, yeah: the game was exciting and all, but what we were really amped for (other than seeing Missy Elliott get down with Katy Perry and her sharks) were the commercials. This year’s ad spots for popular brands like Budweiser, Nissan, Microsoft, and others struck a somber chord, making the commercial breaks kind of a buzzkill. Now, don’t get us wrong; the PSA for domestic violence was brilliant and powerful, as was the Nationwide preventative measures ad that made every sports fan in the East Village wonder why they brought their toddler to a bar. And who could forget when Budweiser got their hands on the cutest golden retriever puppy ever and made us tear up almost immediately after kick-off? But among the downer ads, there were a few humorous spots that were as funny as they were creative. Here are the five that kept our spirits bright.

Everyone had a good laugh watching Kim Kardashian poke fun at herself and her relentless Instagramming. Watching the “famous person” show her self-deprecating side was a breath of fresh air, but we’re not sure if #KimsDataStash is the catchiest hashtag.

Bryan Cranston‘s Walter White shocked us all with a brief return to the tube as “Sorta Greg,” your intimidating stand-in pharmacist. Walt was messing with something behind the counter as an Anna Gunn lookalike approached the counter for her script. Poor Greg.

Fiat: "Little Blue Pill"

When the little blue pill failed to help some old Italian dude, er, get it up, the boner enhancer did its job by enlarging the microscopic Fiat to an SUV-sized ride now known as the 500X.

Loctite Glue: "Positive Feelings"

What is Loctite? How did they beat out Budweiser and Doritos for one of the best ads of the Super Bowl? Who knows> But man, did we enjoy it.

Snickers: "The Brady Brunch"

Watching Danny Trejo go full-on Machete as a hungry Marcia Brady was hilarious enough. But Snickers gave us a double dose of awesome advertising when they featured Steve Buscemi as Jan.
