Short Biography:
Dr. Gutierrez is head of the training center on advanced Endourology and Robotic Surgery, one of the only 46 worldwide Endourological Society recognized programs, at Centro Medico Puerta de Hierro, affiliated hospital to the Universities Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey and Universidad de Guadalajara.
He is Associate Professor of Urology at the Universidad de Guadalajara and former Chairman of the Department of Urology at Nuevo Hospital Civil, Universidad de Guadalajara from 1995-2011.
Dr. Gutierrez served as President of the Sociedad Mexicana de Urologia (SMU) from 2000-2001. He is member of the board and Secretary of Education of the Confederacion Americana de Urologia (CAU), member of more than 10 different Urological Societies, including honorary membership in 5 different Latin-American Societies and international member of the American Association of Genitourinary Surgeons (AAGUS).
He is a recognized expert in minimally invasive surgery and novel technology including minimally invasive management of urinary stones, BPH and robotic surgery. He is author or co-author in more than 100 original articles published in scientific journals and textbook chapters. He is reviewer for many international urological and scientific journals as the Journal of Urology, Urology and the Journal of Endourology. Actually he is the head editor of the Spanish edition of AUANews.
He brings leadership and continuous teaching experiences in different scientific activities in Latin America and around the world.
