Community Service

As a long-standing community business and good corporate citizen, Fitzgerald Auto Malls believes strongly in the need to support the communities we serve. It is for that reason that we have implemented a number of programs ranging from consumer safety and education to improving our environment, taking on animal advocacy roles and reducing our energy consumption.

Child Car Seat Inspection Program

Child Seat Inspections: The Fitzgerald Child Car Seat Inspection Program, developed in partnership with state and local government agencies, includes a FREE monthly seat inspection (except in January & February) at the Fitzgerald Auto Mall White Flint/Nicholson Lane location (See current schedule) These monthly events require no appointment. We have nationally certified child passenger safety technicians to inspect and install child safety seats. We also offer free child seat inspections at selected locations by appointment.

Pet Adoption Events

As pet friendly dealerships we are happy to host many pet adoption events during the year. At our events, in partnership with the Humane Rescue Alliance and the Humane Society of Pinellas County, we do our best to find loving homes for animals currently residing at a shelter or in foster care. For information on upcoming events or to find out how you can help shelter animals please click here:

Child ID Events

Our Child ID Events are held monthly at our various Fitzgerald locations. Parent will receive a Child ID CD including digital fingerprints, picture ID, and voice recognition. All information is stored on a re-writeable CD that is given to participants and can be updated as the need arises. This information is not stored in our database, so there is no need for worrying about confidentiality of the child. This information is endorsed by the Maryland State Police, Montgomery County Police AND The National Center for Exploited & Missing Children .

Helping the Environment

Fitzgerald’s Environmental Management System (EMS)

Fitzgerald Auto Malls, an ISO 14001 registered company recognizes our impact and responsibility to the environment, our customers and our associates. This sets Fitzgerald apart from other automotive dealerships, in that we have considered the ways that we impact our environment, from our major recycling efforts, to our consumption of energy. Fitzgerald is on a course unmatched by even many manufacturers that demonstrate to our customers and to each other that we take our impact seriously, and we're constantly looking for ways to preserve the environment in which we operate as a business.

Veterans Support

Yellow Ribbon Fund

Fitzgerald Auto Malls has supported the Yellow Ribbon Fund and their families since the very beginning. The Yellow Ribbon Fund was created in 2005 to assist our injured service members and their families while they recuperate at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center and the National Naval Medical Center. The mission began when two volunteers learned that the needs at Walter Reed and Bethesda Naval were not being met by other donors.

In the past six years, contributions made through the Yellow Ribbon Fund have provided the following for injured service members and their families:

  • Over 1,500 free rental cars spanning 59,000 free rental car days.
  • Over 18,000 free taxi rides.
  • Over 9,000 free hotel room nights.
  • More than 7,600 nights for 46 families at four apartments
  • Hundreds of free tickets to sporting events, concerts, and plays
  • Hundreds of lunches, dinners, golf games, duck and goose hunts, fishing trips and other activities.

A signature service of the Yellow Ribbon Fund is providing free rental cars for the injured and their families. Recently, YRF's Director of Housing and Transportation Diane Shoemaker provided yet another family of a recovering service member with rental car #1,500! The Yellow Ribbon Fund is able to provide these cars at no cost to the families thanks to the generosity of Fitzgerald Auto Malls and NextCar Auto Rentals. So far, the "in kind" portion of the contribution adds up to over $1,000,000. Fitzgerald is the single biggest supporter of the Yellow Ribbon Fund mission of "welcoming our injured service members home."
