I also have a Samsung printer for more than a year. A weeks ago, together with the update to Windows 8.1 my keyboard input was slow. After a long search it appeared that CDA server was causing this. I disabled it in the Windows startup settings. I can not remove it through the control panel, because it is not mentioned there. I could remove the files of course, but for now all works fine.

Driver for Samsung printers, it works in tray labeled as 'Samsung Easy Printer Manager'

On my system it appears supporting the Samsung Easy Printer Manager for laser printer ML-2160 series. If I manually end the process (CDASvr.exe) in the Windows Task Manager, the printer icon disappears from the notification area.

MikeO, I found "Samsung Easy Print Manager" listed in Programs and Features, under Control Panel. My USB trouble started also following a recent Printer driver update. I uninstalled SEPM; will see what difference may occur.

CDASrv.exe id installed as part of Samsung Easy Print Manager and is not malware if you have a Samsung printer installed. If disabled as a process it just removes Icon from startup and from taskbar. I have tested the service and it is definitely part of Samsung printer software

From the AVAST! user forums: • AVAST NG A hardware based virtualization solution capable of running each Windows process in standalone safe virtualized environment (VM) and fully integrated to your desktop. Each process is executed in its own instance of VM, which means totally isolated from your other applications. This feature is now powering the Avast DeepScreen, resulting in better detection. The technology will also eventually power the Sandbox and SafeZone components (although it does not now).

That process was eating up more than 700mb on my pc so thinking that it was a virus I disabled CDASrv from auto load at startup and my Samsung M2070FW stopped sending scans to the active windows user default scans folder. Was able to send scans again only after reactivating autostartup and rebooting the pc.

Running Windows 7 CDASrv.exe slows down keyboard input. When process disabled keyboard input is flowing freely again.

Was installed with my Samsung M2020W laser printer. CDASrv.exe on my computer is digitally signed by Samsung Co. However, the certificate has been revoked by Verisign, which is cause for concern.
  Gunter Seydack
it is continuously opening multiple ports on the machine through the firewall over and over. will not stop.

Best practices for resolving CDASrv issues

A clean and tidy computer is the key requirement for avoiding problems with CDASrv. This means running a scan for malware, cleaning your hard drive using 1cleanmgr and 2sfc /scannow, 3uninstalling programs that you no longer need, checking for Autostart programs (using 4msconfig) and enabling Windows' 5Automatic Update. Should you experience an actual problem, try to recall the last thing you did, or the last thing you installed before the problem appeared for the first time. Use the 6resmon command to identify the processes that are causing your problem. Even for serious problems, rather than reinstalling Windows, you are better off repairing of your installation or, for Windows 8 and later versions, executing the 7DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth command. This allows you to repair the operating system without losing data.

To help you analyze the CDASrv.exe process on your computer, the following programs have proven to be helpful: ASecurity Task Manager displays all running Windows tasks, including embedded hidden processes, such as keyboard and browser monitoring or Autostart entries. A unique security risk rating indicates the likelihood of the process being potential spyware, malware or a Trojan. BMalwarebytes Anti-Malware detects and removes sleeping spyware, adware, Trojans, keyloggers, malware and trackers from your hard drive.
