A thermocouple project buried in "Table Memory" thread

I am attempting to copy Peter's project. (thermocouple made easy thread)
So far so good.
About the use of remote IR temperature sensors, although my main experience is with thermocouples,
they are very useful for checking remote temperatures of reactors and machine hot spots. My low cost hand unit has no trouble tracking to 1 deg F
over a range of about -20 to 200 C, approx.

My experience with IR Thermometers around reactor systems (mostly 316 stainless steel surfaces) was emissivity of the surfaces can be a problem. I saw your post in another thread and left a response with a few questions. Saw you plan to use a thermocouple and I may have a good solution for you.
