The positive news here is that Siri was able to return to Tampa Bay’s lineup for Monday’s series opener after being hospitalized Sunday to undergo treatment for kidney stones. He should be a full-go moving forward.

As expected, Scherzer will make his first rehab start on Wednesday with the goal of throwing roughly 50 pitches. The 39-year-old veteran right-hander is targeting an early May return to the Rangers’ starting rotation mix, which would be a lightning-quick recovery from offseason back surgery that was originally expected to keep him out until roughly midseason.

Diamondbacks acquired SS Sergio Alcántara from the Pirates for cash considerations.

Alcántara returns for another stint with Arizona after getting into 71 contests for the club during the 2022 campaign. The 27-year-old infielder has bounced around the last few season between several organizations at the Triple-A level. He’s merely emergency infield depth at this stage of his career.
Triston Casas

BOS First Baseman #36

Triston Casas has been diagnosed with a left rib fracture.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora told reporters Casas will be “out a while” after undergoing an MRI earlier this week that revealed a fracture in his left ribs. The 24-year-old burgeoning slugger’s absence is a colossal loss for Boston’s lineup and is also a big hit for fantasy managers that were counting on him building off last year’s phenomenal second-half performance. The lack of a concrete timetable suggests that he’s likely to miss a couple months, if not longer. There should be a clearer timetable in the coming days, but it certainly sounds like he’s going to miss a considerable portion of the season.
Collin Snider

SEA Relief Pitcher #52

Mariners activated RHP Collin Snider from the 15-day injured list; optioned him to Triple-A Tacoma.

Snider will remain stationed at Triple-A Tacoma after hitting the shelf back in early April with a left knee contusion.
Blake Treinen

LAD Relief Pitcher #49

Blake Treinen (lung) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Tuesday with Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Treinen should only require a handful of rehab appearances before he’s ready to make his season debut. The 35-year-old veteran reliever has been out since early March after suffering a bruised lung when he was hit by a comebacker during a spring training contest.
