Canadian-Himalayan Association for Innovation

Nestled within the majestic peaks of the Himalayas lie remote and sparsely populated villages facing very modern problems including climate change, economic marginalization, and loss of culture.

The Canadian Himalayan Association for Innovation (CHAI)  supports community initiatives that build skills and capabilities, primarily in Ladakh and Kullu. CHAI focuses on supporting local leaders to implement innovative health and education projects that empower children, youth, women, and persons with disabilities.

Through strategic partnerships and grassroots projects, CHAI is committed to fostering positive change through projects that take place in urban and rural areas, with a focus on outlying and remote villages.

CHAI currently focuses on:

·       Children and youth skill-building camps

·       Girls and women’s health and well-being projects

·       Community outreach and disability awareness

CHAI has been active in supporting this work since 2005 and became a registered charity in Canada in 2014. For more information about CHAI’s activities, see our Projects page and follow us on Facebook and Instagram. Detailed reports on past activities can be found on our Blog page.
