COMMUNITY CLASSES
Take a deep dive into glass working with one of our workshops! These classes meet weekly giving you the time to learn, experiment, and process. Each month we offer a selection of workshops so keep your eyes peeled for the exciting selection of techniques and projects coming your way!
Want to try glass work but don’t have that sort of time? No problem! Check out our 1 day classes and make your owns! These are the perfect taste of glass to get you started.
STUDIO MEMBERSHIP / OPEN STUDIO
Join us in the studio to pursue your independent work. For a small fee come in and use our facilities, hand tools, and purchase material from our stock to facilitate your work. If you are currently enrolled in a class enjoy a 50% discount on your next month of membership!
Facilities and Tools include:
Work tables, soldering iron,
table top grinder, ring saw, flexible shaft rotary hand grinders, flat lapidary grinder, sink, Homasote board, waffle board, scrub brushes, paper cutter, printer (printing within reason included, will have to pay if printing in quantity), diamond scribe, rulers, glass cutters, grozer and running pliers, and fids.
Kiln time is available for rent

This 3 hour evening is the perfect memorable experience for you and your date or friends. One reservation covers 2 people.
Join us for a private event catered to your glass interests! We will delve into an amazing glass project while enjoying music, charcuterie & wine, beer, or soft drink.

I am thrilled to announce that Stern Glass Works has found a permanent studio space. We are located on South Oak Park Avenue right off the Oak Park Blue Line Stop. Situated between thriving restaurants and business and just around the corner from the arts district on Harrison St. We couldn’t ask for a better location.
Expanded facility & Class Selection
Now that we are in our permanent studio location we are excited to offer studio facilities for stained glass, fusing, slumping, and cold-working. We also have our kiln-casting studio and further cold-working facilities just 5 minutes away on S. Humphrey. These studios allow us to offer a vastly expanded array of classes and workshops across Stained glass and kiln formed glass.
Full-access Membership
3 levels: 3, 5, or 10 hrs/week
Membership at Stern Glass Works includes full-access to the facilities.
As a member you are invited into the studio during open studio hours to pursue independent work! Whether you area professional maker or a hobbyist, a crafter or a fine artist, or simply wanting to enjoy and explore the media you have a place here!
Members are invited to join group firings free of charge when space is available . If you need to run a special program, we are happy to accommodate your needs. As a member you have the benefit of having scheduling priority (only behind classes) and you get a discount on firing cost.
Members will receive one locker and one in process tray for their personal use during their membership period.
To keep your creative flow rolling we have materials and tools stocked in house for your purchase. As a member you will receive a discount on material purchases (some itmes may not apply).
