New PR members

Hi guys, let us introduce two new faces of the INTERNeX PR department for the next 6 weeks. 😇

We are Selina and Daniela who study together at the University of the Federal Employment Agency in Mannheim, Germany. Within our dual studies in labour market management we have the opportunity of either doing an internship in Germany or abroad- OF COURSE we chose the second option and now we’re here at INTERNeX, excited to spend the next few weeks with you 💕

My name is Daniela, I’m 20 years old and live in the South of Germany about 20 minutes from France -after 11 years of studying French at school it’s at least enough to order a pain au chocolat and a cafe au lait. 🤪 Jokes aside, I really enjoy learning new languages, get to know different cultures and taste different cuisines. So I hope to experience all of that with you guys. In my free time I enjoy cooking and baking but when the weather is nice – thankfully it seems so this upcoming week ☀️ you’ll find me outside enjoying a long walk.

Vancouver is a city full of people from all over the world and especially the INTERNeX family seems to be pretty mixed, so I’m looking forward to get to know you guys.  Honestly, when it came to the preparations for the internship I wasn’t quite sure where I wanna do it. I just new one thing for sure-DEFINITELY getting out of Germany and most preferable even out of Europe, so now I’m here 😊

I’m super excited for the upcoming time of meeting you guys, and having fun trips while exploring the beautiful nature of Canada and of course all the other things Vancouver has to offer.

See you guys on Wednesday! 😊

– Daniela

Hello together,

My name is Selina, I am 23 years old and am excited to be a part of INTERNeX. 😁

I’m from Germany and love travelling and meeting new people. So I think we will have a very nice time together. Hopefully!!!! 🥰

I chose Vancouver because I’m a person who loves nature. I love Mountains, seas, the wildlife and all the animals that don’t exist in Germany, like bears and so on. So I’m praying for to meet the Bears!!! ⛰🌺🌻🐻

I think Vancouver and in general Canada will be a big and exciting challenge for me. I hope to find out more about myself with this experience and gain new different perspectives. I also very much wish to improve my English skills. Of course I hope to meet cool new people as you hopefully ;)))

That’s why I think that INTERNeX fits me very well and is a good opportunity for me to do an internship here. Not to forget, I am here together with my very close and beautiful friend Daniela from Germany, who study with me together.

In my free time I enjoy playing handball and going to the gym. I love to go out and meet my friends and new people. I also really like to experience new challenges and enjoy life fully. 🌞

Yeah, I think that’s it for the beginning. I look forward to seeing you and hope to learn about you, face to face in the next weeks and wish us an amazing and wonderful time together!!! 😀

See you Soon!!!

How was the weekend?

Sports, sports and… more sports! INTERNeX was definitely in a very sporty mood this past weekend! I mean, how could you not be with the Canucks advancing to round 2?! Let me tell you all about our fun experience this past weekend!

On Friday some of us INTERNeXers went to the away game viewing party at Rogers Arena. Let me tell you: the experience was 100% worth it! Tickets to the viewing parties are only $15 and you get a free playoffs towel! Almost all the food & drinks shops were running too and the atmosphere is just incredible! OF course, this game was especially fun because the Canucks finally beat the Nashville Predators and made it to round 2 of the playoffs!! 🥳 Woooo! That means that now they have to play against the Edmonton Oilers… those should be some really fun and intense games! In the stadium everyone was sooo happy and it was just such an amazing feeling to celebrate this achievement together with so many fans! After the game there was of course a huge parade from the Stadium to downtown with cars honking, towel power, cheering, clapping and just excitement all over! If there’s another viewing party for round 2, I HIGHLY suggest checking it out cause its just absolutely a once in a lifetime experience! I mean, what are the odds of the Canucks competing for the Stanley Cup Playoffs while you’re in Vancouver?!

On Saturday we also went to a Whitecaps game! This was actually their 50 year anniversary, so there was quite a few people there! I have to say, this football definitely doesn’t compare to the stuff we’re used to from Europe. But the food was so much better lol! We usually don’t really have that many options and there’s also more variety than at Rogers Arena.
It was still a super fun experience and it was really cool to the BC Place! The stadium, is actually huge!! It doesn’t really feel that big at first, but once you see how much larger the actual court is (compared to Rogers Arena), you notice how big BC place really is!

Overall it was a very fun weekend and we’re so excited to watch the second round of playoffs and of course we’re gonna cheer as loud as we can for the Canucks! The next game is actually gonna be during our Pub Night, so I’ll see ya there! 😄

Toodles!

What to do on the weekend?

The first weekend of May is around the corner! Are you ready yet? Well if you’re still looking for something to do, keep on reading cause I have some awesome suggestions for you! 😄

First off, you can join INTERNeX on Saturday where we’re going to watch a Whitecaps football game (or soccer for all you North Americans). Since most of us are European, we’ve kinda missed watching some games, so we thought why not go watch the Vancouver team! The tickets are actually not that expensive, around $36 each! We’re super excited and if you’re a fan of sports, you should definitely join as well!

Another thing that might be interesting to you if you’re a sports fan are the NHL playoffs that are currently happening. The Vancouver Canucks are still in the first round, but they only need one more win to go into the second round where they’ll have to play the Edmonton Oilers. The next game is today (Friday) at 4pm! The Canucks are actually hosting another public viewing event at Rogers Arena where you can watch the game together with lots of fans in the stadium! Tickets are only $15 and I feel like this is such a fun event where everyone can come together and celebrate with each other! Unfortunately, tickets are almost sold out already, but don’t worry there’s more awesome spots you can go to to watch the game! You can go to a bar with a couple of friends and watch the game there – I think literally every single bar in Vancouver is showing the games lol! Some of them even have huge screens and you watch the game together with other fans as well!

If you’re not really into sports, don’t worry I have some other ideas for you as well! Saturday is supposed to be fairly good weather, so I suggest going for a walk or hike! As most of you might know, my favourites for a more relaxed walk are Stanley Park, Queen Elizabeth Park and Lighthouse Park! They’re all incredible options and all of them are super close to downtown. To be fair, Lighthouse Park is a little further out, but the views from there are amazing! It’s probably my favourite sunset spot in Vancouver cause it’s right by the water!
If you’re looking for more of a challenging hike, I suggest Lynn Canyon, Grouse Mountain, or Deep Cove. They all have amazing hiking trails, and especially Grouse and Deep Cove have awesome viewpoints! Of course at Lynn Canyon there’s the suspension bridge, which is always fun to see and makes for some great pictures!

Whatever you decide to do, I hope you have lots of fun and are able to enjoy the weekend! Fingers crossed for the Canucks and the Whitecaps!!

Toodles!

New ‘kids’ on the blog

April has been pretty busy, eh? Well, are you ready to get to know our new ‘kids’ on the blog? Let’s go! 😄

First up is Flavian! He’s 20 years old and from France and he’s here to do an internship at Fashion Week for 4 months total.
He also likes watching movies and TV shows in his free time and back home he’s studying at business school. This internship is actually part of those studies! He came to Canada mainly to work on and improve his English skills. He also wants to discover the culture and he’s aware that there are many different cultures and lots of diversity in Vancouver. That’s one of the first things he noticed here: a very large percentage of the population is Asian.
Once he’s finished he’s gonna go back home to France and he’ll finish his studies next year! But while he’s here, he definitely wants to explore the city and he’d also love to visit Seattle! Honestly, a lot of people go to Seattle for the weekend because it’s really not that far from here!

Next up is Julie, who is 19 years old and also from France. Like Flavian, she’s here to do an internship at Vancouver Fashion Week – wow, must’ve been a busy first week lol!
Before she left back home, she did an internship already and she’s currently studying international trade. In her free time Julie likes to watch movies and TV shows, relaxing and hanging out with friends.
She decided to come to Canada because she wants to improve her English skills, while discovering a new country. Her first impression is that Vancouver is is a lot bigger than the cities in France. She also loves the fact that the city is so connect to nature, especially the mountains. Same! Its honestly one of my favourite things about Vancouver and it makes it feel like the city is not as big – even though it definitely is!
Once Julie is finished with her internship she’s gonna go back to France and continue her studies. She’d also love to do more traveling. She doesn’t really have anything specific on her Vancouver Bucket List, so she’s just gonna wait and see what events and trips come up!

Another new ‘kid’ on the blog is Arthur! He’s 22 years old and also from France. Him and Flavian are actually in the same class, so he’s also studying business. That’s why he’s also doing the Fashion Week internship for 4 months.
Arthur’s hobbies include playing football (yes, the real football lol) and he also enjoys video games. Other than that, he’s also a bog fan of sports and likes running himself.
Arthur decided to come to Canada for his internship, because he’s always wanted to go to North America and this seemed like the perfect opportunity.
His first impression of Vancouver is that the roads are very large and he also loves that the mountains are so close to the city! The thing about the roads is actually very true and I’ve never really thought about that lol! It’s definitely very different from Europe!
Once he’s done with his internship, he’s gonna continue his studies and finish school next year. He’s also thinking about doing some more traveling then! I highly recommend it lol, I feel like it’s so much fun to see all the new cultures and countries!

Last but not least is Victoria (she/her)! She is 18 years old and from Cologne, Germany. She’s here to do an internship for 3 months.
Before she left back home she finished school last summer and worked for a bit. She also did some travelling to South Africa and Thailand – wow that sounds awesome! One of Victoria’s biggest passions is singing! She used to sing in a choir for a long time, but then quit last year.
Now she decided to come to Canada because she has never been to North America! She came across Vancouver and thought the city seemed really interesting, so she decided to come and check it out! 😀 Her first impression of Vancouver is that it’s a lot bigger and more expensive than she thought lol! It is honestly really hard to imagine the dimensions in Vancouver and Canada in general, especially for Europeans! I still have a hard time grasping how far away Banff actually is lol! Other than that Vancouver is pretty similar to what Victoria imagined.
Once she’s finished with her internship she’s gonna go on a trip with her parent, but they’re not sure where they wanna go yet. After that she’s gonna go back to Germany and start studying political science. But while she’s here in Vancouver, she really wants to go on a Rockies trip and do whale watching – perfect! Those two trips are actually coming up very soon! 😀 Lucky for Victoria our whale watching this past weekend got cancelled, so now she can join us! This month’s trip is also a Rockies trip, so this should work out perfectly! Besides that, she’d also love to go kayaking or canoeing! Fun fact: Victoria actually has a friend from school that’s gonna go to Vancouver Island this week! They only found out a few days ago that they’re both gonna be in Vancouver at the same time, so they’ll definitely meet up here!

To all of you: I hope you all have a great time here in Vancouver and I can’t wait to go on some awesome trips with you!

Take care!

How was the weekend?

This past weekend was… full of surprises to say the least lol! Let me tell you all about it!

So as you probably know, we were supposed to go whale watching this past Saturday! Even though it was supposed to be a little rainy, we were still super excited! However, on Saturday morning we got a mail that said whale watching was cancelled because of poor marine weather conditions. Of course we’re able to reschedule though, so I think we’re doing whale watching in 2 weeks! I’ll keep you posted!

On Sunday we were able to go to Vancouver Fashion Week! We actually got some free tickets and we went on the last show! It was three sets of three designers with breaks in between and you’re not gonna believe it, but Renée, one of our INTERNeXers was actually in the show! Like as a model! She’s doing an internship at the Fashion Week, so she was asked the morning of the show, if she’d be able to model for one of the designers! She did an incredible job and it was so cool to see someone we know on the catwalk! 😀 The very last designer, Eduardo Ramos, seemed to be the one everyone was most excited about and he did not disappoint! The show was not just a normal one where a few models walk and show off his design, but in the end, there was one model who did a whole performance, dancing and running and it was very interesting. It was such a unique experience and I’m so glad he decided to do something different. It was honesty a breath of fresh air and we all really enjoyed it!

What did you do this past weekend? Were you able to escape the rain? Maybe you enjoyed some time at a museum? Make sure to tell me all about it next Pub Night!

Toodles!
