This year the event is titled Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion while the dress code is The Garden of Time.  Singer Rita, 33, ensured all eyes were on her as she arrived to the event in a skintight nude bodysuit that accentuated her jaw-dropping figure.

MPs are set to be told about the massive data breach - which targeted service personnel - tomorrow. The government has not named the country involved, but Sky News understands it to be China.

The Met Gala is arguably fashion's biggest night of the year - but several celebrities stepping out on the red carpet this evening at the prestigious event proved that it is also a prime example of when a desperate desire to make a style mark can go horribly wrong. For while many guests at this year's gala wowed and awed with their fashion looks, several suffered such disastrous style fails that they left the red carpet looking more like a Halloween parade. The dress code for this year's event is The Garden of Time, which pairs with the new exhibition that it is being held to honor: Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, a somewhat ironic title given that several of the attendees looked much like they had just rolled out of bed and straight onto the red carpet.

King Frederik X of Denmark and his wife Queen Mary have arrived in Stockholm today for their first state visit since ascending to the Danish throne.  After being greeted by Crown Princess Victoria and her husband Prince Daniel and boarding the Danish royal yacht Dannebrog earlier in the day, the first evening was as spectacular as expected with a gala dinner at the Royal Palace in Stockholm. The glittering event was hosted by King Carl Gustaf and German-Brazilian-born Queen Silvia (pictured right, with Queen Mary), while high-profile Swedish royals such as Prince Carl Philip, Princess Sofia, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel were also in attendance.

The Royal Family has marked the one year anniversary of King Charles (left) and Queen Camilla's coronation by releasing a tribute video featuring a new poem by Poet Laureate Simon Armitage (inset). The three-minute highlights video - which the Duke of Sussex (centre) makes a fleeting appearance in - includes footage from the Westminster Abbey (right) service and the royals greeting fans who had lined the Mall in London. Over 2,000 guests were invited to watch the historic service, including foreign royals, dignitaries and members of the public who had been recognised for their charity work. The poem 'An Unexpected Guest' imagines the day through the eyes through the eyes of a member of the public and also includes prose from Samuel Pepys.

A lone Jewish student was pushed and shoved as he unfurled an Israeli flag at a pro Gaza encampment outside Cambridge University's Kings College. Around 60 tents have been erected outside the prestigious college with students demanding an end 'to the genocide' and that Cambridge University divest in any companies linked to Israel. As around 200 protestors held a rally chanting anti-Israel slogans, student Ari Vladimir, 19, unfurled an Israel flag and shouted support for the country. One protestor grabbed the flag from him and threw it to the ground as he was jostled. Mr Vladimir told MailOnline: 'I had to come here to express my support for Israel. If these people have a right to protest then so do I.

Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan are currently undertaking a two-day state visit to France. As part of the trip, they attended a banquet at the Elysee Palace alongside other prolific figures including French composer and performance artist Jean Michelle Jarre and actor Salma Hayek. A Florida woman who made headlines for breastfeeding her husband has revealed the pair are considering having another baby so she starts lactating again. Rachel Bailey, 31, and her spouse Alexander, 30, said they have 'grieved' their 'bonding experience' breastfeeding since her body stopped producing milk in the past year. The couple's three children have all weaned off the milk, which meant Alexander had to as well. Now, they are considering having a fourth child so they keep up the habit, which started in 2016 Ms Bailey forgot her breast pump on a couples cruise, leading her breasts to become painfully engorged.

Emily Blunt has sent shockwaves after claiming some of her smooches with Hollywood's hottest heartthrobs 'made her want to be sick'.  The Devil Wears Prada star, 41, who is married to US actor John Krasinski, spoke to Howard Stern last week about her intimate moments, with the shock jock asking if any on-screen kisses had made her 'want to throw up'. Emily explosively confessed: 'Absolutely, absolutely...I wouldn't say it's extreme loathing, but I've definitely not enjoyed some of it.' 

Young racegoers dressed to the nines on Monday for the highly anticipated Student Day at Down Royal racecourse in Northern Ireland. Though Down Royal only advises a 'smart casual' dress code to attend the races, students - many from Queens University in Belfast - pulled out all the stops with their glamorous outfits. The event, which is an annual highlight of the student calendar returned today for an afternoon of thrilling racing, fashion, and entertainment at the racecourse near Lisburn. 

Danny Cipriani smoked a suspicious looking cigarette on the street in Los Angeles this week. The former professional rugby union player, 36, was seen in just a pair of black trousers and puffing away in a part of North Hollywood. The star has spoken openly of his previous drug and alcohol abuse but just eight months ago told The Sun on Sunday he was 'free' from substances.

Royal fans are going wild over the 'cute' moment the Duchess of Edinburgh broke into dance as she joined some of the winners of the Royal Windsor Horse Show on their victory lap. Prince Edward 's wife (left), 59, attended the Berkshire event with her husband and daughter Lady Louise Windsor over the weekend. After the International Driving event concluded, the royal was invited to join the winners on their victory lap of Castle Arena. Footage captured by X user and royal fan @Mari_Edinburghs shows the mother-of-two initially walking off the racecourse with her husband and daughter. But after being called back, Sophie put on a gentle jog as she bounds towards the Australia team's carriage (right).

King Frederik X of Denmark and his wife Queen Mary have arrived in Stockholm today for their first state visit since ascending to the Danish throne - amid speculation the royal couple are dealing with marital struggles. Their hosts, 78-year-old King Carl XVI Gustaf , Sweden 's longest-reigning monarch, and German-Brazilian-born Queen Silvia , 80, are no strangers to rumours swirling around their marriage. In 2010, the Swedish monarchy was rocked by the release of a biography about the King which shined a light on his 'wild sex parties with strippers and lengthy affair with a singer'. King Carl offered a 'vague' statement after the release of the controversial book, saying he and his family had chosen to 'turn the page... and move forward because, as I understand, these are things that happened a long time ago.' So, perhaps Mary and Frederik, who were all smiles as they put on a united front in the Swedish capital today, are taking a leaf out of Carl and Silvia's book? They still appear to be happily married, 47 years on from their wedding day and over a decade since the scandal caused by the biography.

The Princess Royal has been the lynchpin holding it all together while the King and the Princess of Wales have been undergoing cancer treatment, analysis of official engagements listed in the Court Circular suggests as the monarch marks the first anniversary of his Coronation. Anne, 73, who is currently on a tour of Canada with her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, has increased her already busy workload by two per cent compared to the same period last year. She undertook 172 engagements up to the end of April, an increase of four on the first four months of 2023. Anne has been out on duty on almost as twice as many days as any other member of the 'slimmed down' family and is one of only three of the 11 working royals to have upped their engagement tally compared to the first four months of 2023.

The glitterati descend on the Metropolitan Museum in New York tonight, the first Monday in May,  for the world's most spectacular fashion fundraiser. Photographers will be lining the red carpet to snap Hollywood stars, fashion icons and renowned designers, as they attend the Met Gala , or Met Ball, as it is known colloquially, in extravagant outfits inspired by JG Ballard's dystopian short story, The Garden of Time. The Gala is the highlight of New York's social calendar, frequently described as 'fashion's biggest night'. Yet there will be no Royal seal of approval this year - unlike the remarkable occasion almost three decades ago, when a newly divorced Diana caused an absolute sensation.

Footage captured the moment a cyclist smashed into a pensioner while whizzing past one of Sadiq Khan 's floating bus stops. The elderly pedestrian is seen walking across the bike lane to reach the bus stop at a zebra crossing when he is caught by the passing cyclist and hurled to the floor. So called 'floating' bus stops have been a topic of contention in London , with leaked figures showing that as many as 60 per cent of cyclists do not give way at zebra crossings. In the clip shared by blind charity NFBUK, cyclists are even seen swerving onto the pavement where the crossing is flush with the cycle lane.

The Appalachian Wildlife Refuge has blasted the people who pulled the cub out of a tree in Asheville, west NC, for their 'shocking' behavior - while giving an update on the animal's condition. Six friends were caught pulling cubs from a tree near Berrington Village Apartments before taking photos with them and dropping one on the ground beside a fence in a viral video on April 16. Officials said the discarded bear was separated from her mother and siblings during the upsetting interaction, and their employees have spent the last two weeks stabilizing the traumatized animal.
