El Instituto Avanzado de Cosmología, fue fundado en 2007 con el propósito de agrupar a científicos de todo México interesados en el estudio del Universo. En la actualidad cuenta con más de un centenar de miembros, entre investigadores y estudiantes de posgrado, de más de 20 instituciones en todo México.
